Pieces of a sunny Saturday morning at home

Tonight I have a carnival dinner with my colleagues. The theme this year: Mexico lindo y querido!

Yellow tulips of my love.

First day on the terrace! I love our back terrace! Today I was reading a little bit in the sun ... it seems that spring is near ...

Saturday Ritual: Vic prepares Mexican food for lunch.

Front terrace. Today the sky isn't clear, there is a slight fog but it is still a beautiful day.

Shrove/Carnival Tuesday

Today has been a strange, yet very special day and believe me, full of heavy and extraordinary emotions. I feel so happy ...

Victor had the day off because today, Shrove Tuesday, is a holiday in many places in our area but not for me. Normally this fact, having to go to work thinking that my sweet love stays home, in bed sleeping, would have caused some bad mood ... but today was different!

I went happily to work, spent time with my friends/colleges and after my work I went to my sweet grandmother's house to eat the delicious "cocido of carnival" that she had prepared. I've been with Vic, my parents, my grandparents, my dog Koka and I had a great time.

Right now I'm quietly sitting on the couch with my handsome husband reading by my side. I know that tomorrow will be a very long and hard day, because when I finish my job tomorrow I have to attend a course of basic skills of social interviewing but despite that ... I can not stop smiling.

I hope you have enjoyed all these days of carnival!

Mondays in the sun

I'm really grateful for this afternoon. After lunch, Vic and I, went for a walk to Mera. The truth is that we didn't walk too much, because we were both very tired, but we just sat on a wooden bench facing the sea, with the sweet sunshine hitting our faces and we were talking quietly about our day at work, our joys and our concerns. We waited until the sun set and we hugged and we felt full of gratitude just for having each other, for everything we have built together so far and everything new that hopefully will be coming soon. Today was a happy day.

It's carnival time

It's carnival time and this, in Galicia, besides many other things, means it's time to eat “cocido”“orejas” and “filloas”. ((For all this, you can understand that it is time to gain at least two or three kilos too)). So today, Sunday, Victor and I were invited to a carnival lunch at home of a brother of my grandmother. We enjoyed delicious traditional food, cooked by my aunt Fina, surrounded by the whole family, parents, grandparents, cousins, nephews ... it was a great day!

And what do you think of my sweet cousin, Iria? She is so pretty ... she was disguised  as Espinete, so cute!

Wild Valentines

My sweet love surprised me with this beautiful and wild bouquet of flowers. I think it's really lovely. Actually we don't celebrate Valentine's Day, you already know this ... my point of view is that it's only a meaningless date to push people to consume etc... because if you are in love you must celebrate it every day but ... well, a simple and natural detail full of love is always beautiful, right?

Russian Red's concert in A Coruña

Last Saturday we were fortunate to attend to the concert of Russian Red in A Coruña and what I can say about it? Only that it was pure magic. Focusing mainly on their latest album "Fuerteventura", Lourdes Hernandez, accompanied only by her drummer, Pablo Serrano, and a guitarist and ex-boyfriend, Briant Hunt, filled the auditorium with her excellent sound and the melancholia of her songs. It was full of special moments and I have to admit that on several occasions I surprised myself by looking at the stage with my mouth open. I loved it. It made it all extremely go fast, I could have spent hours listening to their sound which is so good, played live. Especially the magical and almost jazzy "twist" that all the acoustic versions of their songs have is extremely delicate, fresh and natural at the same time.

"Fuerteventura" is definitely my album of the year ... I've heard it so many times ... and I never get tired of it. I rediscover it every time I play it. It is of great significance to me. Many memories, many moments ... so the only thing I can think of is to thank Russian Red for creating something so beautiful ...

Sunday's walk

Despite not enjoying the warm sunshine of yesterday, after breakfast we decided to go for a walk and enjoy this Sunday by the sea.The place where we took these pictures is called "El Pedrido" and is very close to our house. This small beach of the estuary, usually covered with water, becomes a vast sandy at low tide. It´s perfect for long walks. The space is huge and the feeling of spaciousness while you are walking is rewarding. I love this place. I walked here many times, during childhood with my parents and now with Vic. It´s one of my favorite places.

Wintersun and sand

Enjoying a sunny morning like today walking with my love on a empty beach is all I need to be immensely happy.

And tonight we will attend to the Russian Red concert in A Coruña, tomorrow I'll tell you all about it. Anxious to see it.

Wednesday

Yellow tulips, my favorite. It's a sweet gift from my husband who this week, I don't know why, surprised me every day with a very special gift.♥

And here's my fish, "amarillito". Since a month he's alone. His partner "naranjita", in an incomprehensible act, decided one day to kill himself jumping from the tank to the floor and obviously, when we found him, there was nothing we could do for him. It was the second time he tried this and finally he succeeded. I'm really sad to see "amarillito" so alone but, at the same time, I fear that if I buy another tiny fish he could eat him ... it's complicated ...

IMPORTANT NOTE: In relation to the recipe that I showed you yesterday and after having eaten it this afternoon ... me, and Vic, we can only say ... impressive, delicious ... I encourage everyone to try it at home ... it's very good! !

Recipe: Cannelloni of spinach, gorgonzola and nuts

A couple of days I saw this recipe in one of my favorite blogs of cuisine: http://www.mercadocalabajio.com/. Cannelloni stuffed with spinach, gorgonzola cheese and walnuts. If you want to see the original recipe you can do here. The original recipe used cottage cheese but I've used gongonzola because, I admit, I have a weakness for this cheese.

So I spent most of the afternoon in the kitchen and I think it was worth it because at first glance the result is very good. Although, to see the final picture (after baking) we will have to wait until tomorrow. I can not wait to get home from work and try it.

What do you think? I just hope that Victor likes it.
 ;-)

Dinner at "Barlovento" of Monte Alto

This past weekend we were visited by Fabian & Gabi, Vic's brother and his girlfriend. Really more than a visit was a "farewell" because they will fly, in a couple of weeks, to live in Brazil, where Gabi is from. So on Saturday we went with them to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants: "Barlovento" of Monte Alto in La Coruna. This local (drink & music) is, for me, one of the coolest places in our city. It is decorated with vintage furniture, very fashionable lately, and has an exquisite menu of dishes. Believe me when I say that in this restaurant I tried the best gazpacho of my life and I think probably the best guacamole too. It's a very cool place with good music and very cozy  atmosphere, with flowers and candles. And after dinner (or before too) you can try one of their cocktails. Ultimately 100% recommended. It was a good night in a very special place.

Makeover

A couple of weekends ago, when we got home from my parents I found my daddy pruning some bushes in the garden and instantly I thought "those dead branches are perfect for our glass vessel." So I chose the ones I liked more and this is the result. I'm really satisfied!
